Scott Walker has announced he is running for president. Evidently, he wants to help the nation the way he helped Wisconsin. Based on Walker’s record in Wisconsin, let’s hope Walker’s campaign falls flat.
While Republican Gov. Scott Walker in Wisconsin had a $283 million budget deficit, we in Minnesota had almost a $2 billion surplus. Minnesota ranks second in the Midwest for job growth, Wisconsin third to the last. Gov. Dayton and DFLers invested in our schools, and Wisconsin Republicans made more cuts in school funding than any other state.
And one of the most telling figures of all? Minnesota’s median income is $8,000 higher than the national average, and Wisconsin’s is $800 lower than the national average.
Our nation needs a leader who will do what Gov. Dayton and other progressive state officials have done to build prosperity for average people in Minnesota. Their policies helped make our state a great place to live, work and raise a family.
America does not need Scott Walker’s anti- working family policies.
