People who believe that man-made global warming is a clear and present danger like to use Greenland as a case study. Greenland is losing a lot of snow mass, and gardening is becoming more feasible. What they don't seem to know is that history and science tells us that Greenland has been warm before. It was warm between 600 to 200 B.C. and again from 950 to 1300 A.D.

Greenland was discovered by Eric the Red in 984 and named to make it attractive to settlers. At that time there were extensive meadows, cropland and even vineyards. It was abandoned in the early 1400s due to climate deterioration.

There is ample evidence that sun activity drives climate change. We may be enhancing the present cycle, which began in 1850, but 70 percent of the present warming took place before 1940. As carbon dioxide levels increase, its effects decrease. If C02 levels double, its greenhouse effect increases only fractionally. Environmentalists ignore these facts because it doesn't advance their agenda.

Something no one seems to talk about is that cold weather kills far more people than heat. Since the 1970s, warming has reduced cold deaths by 620,000 while increasing heat deaths by 130,000. Cold weather is much harder on people, especially the very young and old. England has seen dramatic drops in death from exposure. Most heat deaths are caused by large cities that trap heat and can increase temperatures by 10 degrees.

There is ample information available about what global warming will and what not do, what causes it and what doesn't, and what we can and cannot do about it. Beware of agenda-driven "science." Globalists and environmentalists love global warming because it gives them reason to implement their agendas, which will be far more destructive than a few degrees increase in temperature.

The scientists who discovered the natural causes of global warming should have won the Noble Peace Prize instead of Al Gore, but then Alfred Nobel made his fortune -- the interest from which the prize money is awarded -- from dynamite. Ironically, Yasser Arafat, the most successful terrorist of all time, won one, also.
