Thank you for the great article, “A local legacy,” written by Beth Rickers. What a beautiful tribute to the late Ray Crippen.
Beth mentions the Turkey Day parade of 1966, with Bobby Kennedy the featured speaker that year. I remember vividly watching the thousands of spectators lining 10th Street when Mr. Kennedy elected to leave his car and walk down the street to the speaker’s platform. There was the sight of thousands of hands reaching out to Mr. Kennedy, and the shouts of “Bobby! Bobby!” were filling the air. If I remember correctly, Mr. Ray Crippen was on the platform with Mr. Kennedy. I will never forget that day.
When Ray Crippen passed away on Dec. 27, 2015, Worthington and the whole Globe area lost a great, humble and talented gentleman. Thank you, Beth Rickers, for a great article.
