Two years ago I read in the newspaper that Rod Hamilton had voted to expand gambling in Minnesota, something I strongly oppose on moral grounds. I believe it is wrong for our government to raise funds through an activity that can destroy families. I learned the other day that Hamilton is back at it. Last April, Hamilton voted to add a pro-gambling provision to our state's agriculture policy bill. Luckily, the gambling proposal was ruled not germane to the bill.
I have two questions. Did Hamilton try to push a gambling provision into the agriculture bill as a way to force other legislators to vote for the expansion of gambling against their conscience? And why is Hamilton such a strong proponent of something that hurts so many families?
