I've discovered there are now three things I can count on in my lifetime: Death, taxes, and repeated non-factual (and in some cases nonsensical) ramblings against me from perennial candidate Richard Peterson.
I have really tried to take the high road when dealing with the continual attacks in this newspaper from Richard, in some cases I've chosen not to respond because some of them have just been off-the-charts ridiculous. In this case I have to respond because the latest accusation -- in which I apparently have a plan to bring in insurance companies from other states, allowing them to sell substandard and inadequate coverage -- is beyond laughable and completely untrue.
Richard also keeps accusing me of "playing politics" at the State Capitol. Apparently Richard did not pay attention to the 2008 session, where I was nearly crucified by my Republican caucus for voting in favor of a transportation proposal that included funding for the expansion of Highway 60.
Others are noticing my commitment to bipartisanship as well, and I am extremely appreciative of their support. Education Minnesota, which typically endorses far more Democrats than Republicans, is supporting me for the first time. So are the Minnesota Farm Bureau, the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association, and the Minnesota Medical Association.
It is just highly ironic that Richard Peterson continues to play the "political" card when the general public understands that I am anything but a partisan. Ask my caucus leadership just how much of a partisan I am.

As always, when an issue is presented to me, if my district would gain more from a bill than it would lose, I will vote for it, despite what Richard Peterson would like you to believe.
