Last week, the Larkin Township Board was forced to close a Kanaranzi bridge because it wasn't safe to drive on. This couldn't have happened at a worse time. Now farmers in our area will have to drive miles out of the way during the busiest part of the harvest season. This action will cost farming families and local businesses time and money.
State Representative Doug Magnus had numerous chances to fix our local roads and bridges -- but he chose not to. Time and again, Magnus has voted against new funding needed to fix our crumbling transportation infrastructure. Instead of addressing the problem, he towed the party line and played politics with our safety and the economic well-being of our community.
I'm tired of Twin Cities leadership telling Doug Magnus how to vote -- particularly when those important decisions compromise the safety of people in our community. Adrian deserves a representative with an independent voice who won't be swayed by the popular political winds of the day. We need a representative with the courage to make the right decisions on the tough issues that affect our local economy.
Doug Magnus is just another "yes man" to powerful partisan interests. It's time to elect someone who will put the well-being of our community first. It's time to elect Mike McCarvel our state representative.
