I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Worthington on being the recipient of $2.6 million dollars from the JBS Hometown Strong Initiative. The investment that JBS is making in Worthington will be of great benefit not only to their employees but to the entire community and I thank them for their generosity.
With the challenges that presented themselves due to the Covid outbreak in Worthington a few short months ago, I congratulate all that were involved in getting a handle on the emergency and bringing the community to where it is today. JBS, local officials, health agencies, Sanford Hospital, other local businesses and state workers played a tremendous role in putting the health of the community front and center and brought a tense and dangerous situation under control.
The gift to the community by the JBS Hometown Strong Initiative will help to provide year-round athletic and recreational activities for the youth and adults of the Worthington area with $1 million going toward the new fieldhouse. Other needs will be addressed with the remaining funds and will go a long way to meeting many needs in the community. Great things can indeed be accomplished with all working together and sharing resources.
Congratulations and thank you to all. It is an honor to represent you in the MN Senate.
