Letter: Failure to act on bonding bill will hurt rural Minnesota

By voting “no" on the bonding bill, many rural towns in Minnesota will be forced to raise taxes to start or complete significant projects.

To the Editor:

It is time we, as a community, stand and call out the Republicans we elected into office to make a choice, a choice that hurts many small rural communities. Republican senators in Minnesota have chosen to kowtow to the party rather than represent their constituents. This is not okay!

By voting “no" on the bonding bill, many rural towns in Minnesota will be forced to raise taxes to start or complete significant projects. Republican senators supposedly want cuts made to these same taxes, bull. This is strictly a power play by the Republican party’s hierarchy.

I am one voter who will work the next election cycle to eliminate those who voted “no” on the bonding bill. I pledge to remind voters in Foley and around the state who is responsible for this travesty. Please join me in this effort, write letters, make telephone calls, and spread the word.
