Letter: Murillo tries ice skating during year in Crailsheim

Another really cool thing I’ve done was to go to a local Mexican restaurant. Since I’m of Mexican heritage, I have been wanting to try the local Mexican restaurant.

To the Editor:
My name is Nataly Najera Murillo and I am the 2022-23 Worthington-Crailsheim exchange student. We have now entered a new year and I would like to talk about my first month of 2023 in Germany.

I want to talk about the weather again because it’s been mostly raining and that seems a little weird to me, because in Worthington I’m used to having inches of snow during this time of year. There has, at times, been a little bit of snow but it usually disappears after a few days.

Something new that I tried in January is ice skating! I went ice skating in a small town called Kirchberg with a few friends and then in a bigger city with my current host family. It was a new experience, which I definitely enjoyed — even though I’m not the best at it.

I think what was most embarrassing for me was that I didn’t know how to ice skate and I’m from Minnesota, where we always have the option to ice skate on our frozen lake in the winter!

Another really cool thing I’ve done was to go to a local Mexican restaurant. Since I’m of Mexican heritage, I have been wanting to try the local Mexican restaurant, which I got to go to this month with my host sister. Even though the food wasn’t actually authentic Mexican food as I know it, I still really enjoyed it and it reminded me of home.

Even though not a lot happened this month, I’m still enjoying my time here in Germany. I think now that we entered a new year, time for me will fly by in a flash and before I know it I will be on a plane on my way back home.

Thank you to everyone supporting me and this program. I’ll keep everyone updated in my next letter!

Sincerely,
Nataly Najera Murillo
