WORTHINGTON -- March is Middle School Month, and we have many great things going on at the Worthington Middle School.
We have an all-school checkers tournament with a champion being crowned on Showcase Night. There is a door-decorating competition with the theme of "Yes I Can!" Penny wars will be going on during the week of the showcase, as there will be a grade-versus- grade competition to raise money for Pennies for Patients.
The event during the month that I am most looking forward to is our Middle School Showcase Night on Tuesday. The night starts at 5:30, where for $1 you can get a pizza dinner served in our school cafeteria. We then have an open house planned, but this is no ordinary open house. We will have students and teachers on hand for activities and demonstrations that will help show what the typical day in the middle school is like.
Musical groups will be practicing and art students will be sculpting in clay. Science teachers will be demonstrating classroom response system, and tech students will be working in the modules in the tech room. There will be things going on all over the school. Also, as you wander the halls, you will get a good look at the school, which turns 28 this year. We are very proud of it and, with the help of our great custodial staff; it looks like a new building. So if you are a parent, grandparent, alumni, or just want to come out to witness the middle school in action, this is a great opportunity for you -- especially if you have never been to our middle school. We would love to see you.
