WORTHINGTON — Pick-up service for the city of Worthington’s rescheduled 2020 annual clean up will begin on Monday, Oct. 5.
As is the case each year, the city is providing an opportunity for city residential utility customers to dispose of items not normally picked up as a part of the weekly garbage/recycling collection day.
Items may start being placed on the curb Wednesday (Sept. 30). In a continued effort to encourage use of the weekly garbage/recycling service, the clean-up event will be completed following the same basic requirements as 2019. Tags will be required, and a fee must be paid prior to collection for items listed.
Tags must be attached to the item, or it will not be collected. Tags may be purchased through Friday during normal business hours at the following locations: Worthington City Hall front desk, 303 Ninth St.; Worthington Public Utilities Office, 318 Ninth St.; or Schaap Sanitation, located on U.S. 59/Minnesota 60 South (recycling center).
New tags will not be sold after pickup begins. Tags are non-refundable, and unused tags may be used for future clean-up.

Required fees will be as follows: dehumidifier, humidifier, water softener, sinks, commodes and bath tubs, $11 each; appliances (stoves, refrigerators, washers/dryers, air conditioner, microwaves), $11 each; mattress, box spring, day beds and futon, $11 each; large furniture such as recliner chairs, easy chairs and couches, $11 each; room-size rolls of carpet, padding linoleum (10 feet by 10 feet or larger) $11 each; electronics (computers, printer, televisions, radios), $11 each; hot water heater, no charge.
The cleanup will include items such as lumber, doors, windows and metal/iron at no charge, but will be limited to a quantity that would fit into a regular pick-up box, (2 foot high, 4 feet wide and 8 feet long). Items must be placed in separate piles. Individuals should put loose items in a garbage bag or tie them into a bundle to prevent the materials from littering the community.
The cleanup will not include such items as recyclable materials, items that would fit in weekly containers, tires, paint, paint thinners, hazardous, toxic or liquid waste, trees/brush, concrete, batteries, gas, oil, grease or pesticides/insecticides.
