WORTHINGTON - The Worthington 15-and-under boys soccer team improved to 8-0 Monday, thanks in large part to its high-scoring attack.
Mooday Wah finished with three goals to lead Worthington F.C. in a 9-2 victory over New Ulm. Edwin Hernandez scored twice to help his team recover from a slow start.
Worthington scored first, but New Ulm quickly found the back of the net to tie things up at 1-1.
“We weren’t playing very well at the start,” Worthington coach Kody Honius said. “I think (when they tied it up) that kind of woke them up. That’s probably a good thing for them to learn that they need to stay awake. Just because we’re leading the league doesn’t mean they can be too confident when we get a lead.”
After that, it was all Worthington as it outscored New Ulm 8-1 the rest of the way.
Worthington will be back on its home pitch tonight. It is slated for a 7 p.m. start against rival Waseca.
