Iowa boys basketball district playoffs: George-Little Rock starts slow in loss
BOYDEN, Iowa — The George-Little Rock boys basketball team employed a tough zone against Boyden-Hull Thursday night in a Class 1A, District 2 game.
But when the Mustangs’ defense did force an errant shot, the Comets were able to hurt G-LR with key offensive rebounds.
After a slow start, the Mustangs bowed out of the playoffs with a 72-47 loss.
G-LR (6-16) was led by Josh Haken’s 15 points, while Austin Jensen had 12 points and nine rebounds.
B-H was led by Dalton Moser and Shane Solberg. Moser finished with a game-high 22 points, while Solberg had 20.
The Comets, who had a 19-5 lead after the first quarter, will host the winner of St. Mary’s, Remsen and West Sioux on Tuesday.

In other Iowa games, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn defeated Harris-Lake Park 69-42 in Class 1A. The Wolves finished the season with an overall record of 9-13. They graduate just three seniors in Dahlton Burdorf, Darin Hesebeck, Dylan Petersen.
In Class 2A, Sheldon survived 58-53 over West Lyon in overtime. The Orabs will face Western Christian, Hull on Tuesday. Western Christian defeated Okoboji 86-33 Thursday night.
Sheldon will enter that contest with a mark of 11-11.
