Tuesday roundup: R-T-R dumps Adrian; Luverne moves to 4-0

ADRIAN -- A 10-run fourth inning broke open a close game Tuesday, helping to lift the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton high school baseball team to a 13-1 five-inning victory over Adrian.

Jared Baartman and Corbyn Sitzmann both had a pair of hits for the Knights, with Baartman scoring three runs and Sitzmann driving in four. Payton Hess had a hit and scored twice for the winners.

Grant Jansma singled in two trips for Adrian. It was the Dragons’ only hit.

AHS committed six errors in the game.

Jacob Fischer pitched four innings and earned the win for R-T-R, and hunter VanLerberghe struck out two batters in an inning of relief.

Skylar Polzine took the loss for Adrian.

LUVERNE -- Derek went 2-for-3 at the plate, Isaiah Bartels was 2-for-2, and Ben Serie went 1-for-3 with a double to lead Luverne to a 10-0 five-inning win over Edgerton/Southwest Christian.

The triumph moved Luverne to 4-0 on the season.

Jade Smith pitched three innings for the Cardinals and was credited with the win. Bartels pitched the last two frames.

Jaden Bloemendaal, one of three Edgerton/Southwest Christian pitchers, took the loss.

SPRINGFIELD -- Margo Stoesz collected three hits and drove in four runs as Mountain Lake Area defeated host Springfield 10-0 in five innings.

The Wolverines scored all 10 of their runs in the first three innings, and pitcher Molly Carnell held the Tigers to just one hit.

Carnell, who struck out five batters, also drove in a pair of runs.

Sarah Dunn took the pitching loss.
