St. Peter 1, Worthington 0

ST. PETER -- Worthington’s offensive struggles continued in a road loss to St. Peter.

“We had about eight shots on goal,” WHS head coach Juan Flores said. “We couldn’t find it tonight, either.

“We started off slow,” he continued. “We weren’t pressuring enough and we gave them too much time on the ball and we let them pass the ball. There were times we should have got the ball back and went forward with it.”

The Saints scored just once, with 15 minutes to go in the first half.

“We couldn’t the ball out of our own box. That’s been another issue that we’ve had all season, we can’t clear the ball out of our box,” Flores said. “The goal they scored was off a communication mistake off one of our throw ins. Our guys didn’t communicate, the guy came in between both them, took the ball, crossed it and the guy was there to tap it back in.”

Otherwise, Flores was happy with the defensive effort. However, the coach said, Worthington has to be able to be more efficient on offense.

“We need to score first for us to get going,” Flores said. “A lot of our games, the other team scores first and we kind of get down on ourselves and we can’t get back up from that. It’s something we have to work on.”
