MINNEAPOLIS -- Senior quarterback Abraham Stoesz rushed for 140 yards on 22 carries and scored a 5-yard touchdown with 42 seconds remaining in the third quarter as Mountain Lake Area defeated Hancock 22-14 for the Minnesota state 9-Man football championship Saturday at U.S. Bank Stadium.
In a battle of unbeaten teams, the Wolverines -- who placed second in 2018 -- rushed for 241 yards and passed for 92.
Hancock scored the game's first two touchdowns, the first coming on a 5-yard pass from Preston Rohloff to Daniel Milander in the second quarter, and the second by way of a 32-yard interception return by Matt Thompson. But Mountain Lake Area scored two times in the second quarter to take a 14-14 tie into halftime. Mace Herrig scored on a 2-yard run and Adam Karschnik scored on an 11-yard pass from Stoesz.

Herrig finished with 97 yards rushing on 25 carries. Stoesz completed six of 13 passes for 92 yards, with two interceptions. Willaby caught three passes for 47 yards.
