The Big South released its fall all-conference teams on Monday, and as expected the Worthington Trojans came up big in boys soccer.
The conference champion Trojans placed four players on the all-conference team, and also had three honorable mentions.
Senior Jesus Lozano, juniors Menkem Mehri and Dalen Gonzalez, and freshman Jonathan Banegas earned all-league designations. Trojan teammates Ricardo Rodriguez (senior), Isaiah Noble (junior) and Ulises Barrera (junior) were named to the honorable mention squad.
Worthington did not get a player named to the league’s elite girls soccer team.
In cross country, the Trojans enjoyed an outstanding boys season. In the large division category, Worthington’s Mikele Walu, Alec Langerud and Filmon Wolday earned all-conference designation, and teammates Ofbeka Morke and Jordan Melendez were given honorable mentions.
Luverne’s Camden Janiszeski and Pipestone Area’s Seth Lingen were named to the small school all-conference team. Jackson County Central’s Evan Paplow, Pipestone Area’s Caden Strasser, Windom Area’s Chance Elness and JCC’s Andrew Boyum are honorable mentions.
In girls cross country, Windom Area’s Gracie Bucher and Kaylee Walklin are small division all-conference selections, as is Luverne’s Tenley Nelson, Grace Ingebretson, Brooklynn Ver Steeg and Regan Feit. Honorable mentions went to Luverne’s Elizabeth Wagner and Kayla Bloemendaal, Pipestone Area’s Alivia Fruechte and JCC’s Olivia Anderson.
Worthington did not get a runner named to the large division all-conference team.
