SLAYTON - Senior guard Blake Schmitz scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds as Murray County Central defeated Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey in a Red Rock Conference boys basketball game on Friday.
Junior forward Chant Mitchell had 13 points and 10 boards for the Rebels, who improved to 5-4 overall. Nate Kleven scored 10 points, while Dylan Johnson and Colton Mitchell added eight apiece. Schmitz filled up the stat sheet with four assists and four steals.
For Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey (5-5), Carter Olson scored 17 points. Kolby Kremmin had 10 points and Ethan Nickel added eight.

EDGERTON - Senior guard Ethan Mischke scored 22 points and had eight steals as Westbrook-Walnut Grove rallied past Edgerton in a Red Rock Conference game.
Senior guard Hunter Lien poured in four 3-pointers en route to 16 points and sophomore forward Brady Ross scored 12 as the Chargers rallied from a four-point halftime deficit. Westbrook-Walnut Grove improved to 7-3.
Edgerton (1-10) received 13 points from 6-6 senior center Mason Gilbertson. Senior guard Gabe Gilbertson added 12.
The Chargers turned it around in the second half, connecting on seven of 13 shots from 3-point range.

Senior guard Zander Wysong scored 11 points for Hills-Beaver Creek, which improved to 4-5. Drew Leenderts added 11 points for coach Steve Wiertzema’s Patriots.
For Red Rock Central (4-7), senior forward Dominik Smith scored 25 points. Luke Willhite added 15 points and Joe Strock scored 13.
