The Worthington Cubs amateur baseball team won a pair of games Sunday, taking host Ruthton 13-3 in six innings and outscoring host Hadley in seven.
Joe Ahrens hit a grand slam in the Ruthton game and he also was the winning pitcher.
Ahrens hurled the first three innings and Nate Jensen the last three for the Cubs.
Brent Wiering took the loss.
A.J. Hayenga had three hits for Worthington while teammates Ahrens, Adam Munkel and Lucas Henning each had two.
In the Hadley game, Henning was the mound winner, going the full seven innings with one walk and 10 strikeouts. He only allowed three hits.
Henning, Ryan Swanson, Ahrens and Josh Wasmund all had two hits for Worthington, now 7-2. Henning and Wasmund doubled.
Justin Reinsma, who went five and two-thirds innings, took the loss.

Heron Lake 4, Tracy 3
The Milroy Irish defeated Heron Lake 5-3 in an early game Sunday, but the Lakers edged the Tracy Express 4-3 in a later game.
Tyler Peterson was the winning pitcher in the Milroy game, and Lon Eichenberger took the loss.
Eichenberger fared better in the batter’s box, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Teammate Joey Kinley was 2-for-4 with a double.
Tracy scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning against Heron Lake but finished one run short. Justin Jass was the winning pitcher and Cory Apperson took the loss.
Eichenberger continued his hot streak at the bat, going 2-for-3.

Max Zwart had three hits and three RBIs and Kellen Johnson had two hits and scored three times as Hadley defeated Ruthton.

Nick Bruning, Nate Wieneke and Blake Rogers each hit home runs for Hadley, but Lakefield won the game.
Jared Bakalyar and Phil Pronk had two hits apiece for Lakefield. Pronk was the winning pitcher.
