PIPESTONE - Lakefield made team history Friday in its First Nite and Gopher League playoff game against Pipestone.
The Frogs’ 5-3 victory over the A’s gave them a 2-0 win in the best-of-3 series. It is the first time Lakefield has ever reached the Region 13C Tournament.
Pipestone struck first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Frogs retaliated right away with RBI singles by Taylor Christopher, Nolan Luhman and Jon Hummel. A two-RBI triple by Christopher in the top of the sixth pushed their advantage to 5-2.
The A’s got one back in the seventh, but that was it.
Bryce Christopher pitched eight innings for the win. Trevon Bargfrede got the save.
