PIPESTONE -- The host Pipestone A's rolled past the Worthington Cubs 11-1 in seven innings Thursday in their first best-of-three amateur baseball playoff opener.
Brandan Alfson was the winning pitcher. Justin Soufley started for Worthington and was tagged with the loss after working five innings.
Danny Moffitt and Bayley Colemer each had a double for Pipestone. Hitters 1-6 in the Pipestone order had two hits apiece.
Worthington, which committed four errors, had just four hits in the game -- all singles.
The same two teams will meet again tonight (Friday) at 7:30 p.m. in Worthington. Lucas Henning, the Cubs' ace left-hander, is scheduled to pitch in a game the team must win to continue its season.
