Amateur baseball playoffs are underway

WORTHINGTON -- The Region 13C amateur baseball tournament began on Wednesday night with the opening game of the best-of-three series.

Wednesday featured close games in the area, with three of the contests decided by one run.

Fairmont defeated Pipestone 3-2 in Game 1, as the Martins scored a run in the bottom of the eighth to seal the victory. Game 2 is today in Pipestone.

In Luverne, the Jackson Bulls held off the host Redbirds 8-7. The second game is today in Jackson.

Hadley defeated Windom 4-3, with the second game Saturday afternoon in Windom.


The Milroy Irish took care of Lakefield 9-4 on Wednesday, but the Frogs will look to even the series at home today.
