WILMONT - Lucas Henning recorded 21 outs in his seven-inning pitching performance against Milroy Wednesday night.
Of those 21, all but one were on a strikeout.
The Cardinals’ starter was on fire. He allowed one hit and struck out 20 to lead his team to a 4-0 win. The first out he recorded on a non-strikeout came in the seventh inning.
“He was really nasty tonight,” said teammate Nick Ahrens.
He had all the run support he needed after the first inning when the Cards got him one run. They added three for insurance in the home half of the second before both teams put zeroes on the board the rest of the way.
Jay Scheidt, Ahrens and Joe Ahrens all had two hits to lead the Wilmont offense. Scheidt added two runs and a stolen base.
The Cards will be back in action on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Hadley.

Worthington 7, Heron Lake 6
WORTHINGTON - The Worthington bats came alive Wednesday as the Cubs broke out of their recent slump and slammed 11 hits.
The biggest of those were a pair of two-run home runs off the bat of Josh Wasmund. That led the Cubs to a 7-6 First Nite League win over Heron Lake.
The first of Wasmund’s two bombs came in the bottom of the first as he put his team on top 2-0. The second was part of a four-run fifth inning that gave Worthington the lead and some breathing room after the Lakers had taken a brief 4-3 lead.
Nate Jensen got the win for the Cubs, going five innings and allowing two earned runs on three hits. Adam Munkel went the last four and struck out five in the save. Alex Meyer went six innings and took the loss for the Lakers.
Eric Koob, Cody Melendrez and Wasmund had two hits each for Worthington.

Fairmont 11, Windom 0 (8 inn.)
WINDOM - Windom had a tough night Wednesday as it began the home stretch of the Gopher League season.
Fairmont got a big night from pitcher Taylor Nawrocki and the Martins ran away with an 11-0 victory in eight innings.
The visitors didn’t waste any time getting on the sticks. The Martins put three runs on the board in the first to put the Pirates in a big hole early. Three more in the fourth made it 7-0 in favor of the Martins before two in both the fifth and eighth brought the game to its run-rule final.
Alex Gerdes took the loss on the mound for Windom. He went three-plus innings as the first of three pitchers used by the Pirates. Nawrocki struck out 15 and didn’t walk anyone over seven innings of work.
Brett Madsen did all of the damage at the plate for Windom, going 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.
