Area athletes earn titles at state track and field meet

Luverne relay team, Windom Area’s Smith win in girls competition

ST. MICHAEL — Several southwest Minnesota high school athletes competed Friday during the state Class A Minnesota Track and Field meet at St. Michael-Albertville High School.

Luverne’s 4x800 meter relay team of Regan Feit, Tiana Lais, Jenna DeBates and Tenley Nelson brought home a state title for the Cardinals, while Windom Area’s Delaney Smith captured the shot put while placing second in the discus.

Girls results: 100 meters: Anna Suda, Southwest Minnesota Christian-Edgerton, 14th place. 200 meters: Taryn Rauk, Hills-Beaver Creek, 14th place. 400 meters: Gracie Zewiske, Luverne, seventh place; Gracie Bucher, Windom Area, 15th place. 800 meters: Morgan Gehl, Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda, third place. 1600 meters: Morgan Gehl, Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda, second place. 100 meter hurdles: Samantha Untiedt, Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda, 13th place. 300 meter hurdles: Regan Feit, Luverne. 4x100 meter relay: Hills-Beaver Creek, 12th place. 4x200 meter relay: Luverne, 10th place. 4x400 meter relay: Luverne, fifth place. 4x800 meter relay: Luverne, first place; Murray County Central, fifth place. Pole vault: Payton Hanson, Jackson County Central, 10th place. Shot put: Delaney Smith, Windom Area, first place; Jocelyn Hart, fifth place. Discus: Delaney Smith, Windom Area, second place.

Boys results: 100 meters: Ashton Sandbult, Luverne, third place. 200 meters: Tyson Bork, Hills-Beaver Creek, 14th place. 1600 meters: Camden Janiszeski, Luverne, 10th place. 110 meter hurdles: Trevin Ssali-Gaustad, 11th place. 300 meter hurdles: Ridge VanWesten, Jackson County Central, 11th place. 4x100 meter relay: Hills-Beaver Creek, sixth place. 4x200 meter relay: Luverne, fifth place. 4x400 meter relay: Luverne, eighth place; Southwest Minnesota Christian-Edgerton, 10th place. High jump: Dylan Serreyn, Windom Area, 11th place. Pole vault: Eli Radtke, Luverne, 12th place. Triple jump: Micah Schaap, Southwest Minnesota Christian/Edgerton, third place.
