The Adrian/Ellsworth girls high school golf team placed fourth in the state Class A girls standings, and the A/E boys brought up the rear in the boys field at the Pebble Beach Golf Club in Becker. Madison Beckmann, a freshman and the only qualifier from the Worthington Trojans, shot a 202 for 68th place overall in her two days of state Class AA competition at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan.
Beckmann compiled 100 strokes on the first day Tuesday, then on Wednesday shot a 102. Another area Class AA competitor, Emma Budden of Pipestone Area, finished with a 184 for 36th place.
In Class A, Lac qui Parle Valley finished with 720 strokes to win the girls competition. Park Christian was next with 746, followed by Badger/Greenbush-Middle River with 770, Adrian/Ellsworth with 792, Fillmore Central 802, BOLD 817, Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 829, Braham 830 and Legacy Christian Academy 832.
On the boys’ side, Fertile-Beltrami won with 629 strokes. Next was Legacy Christian Academy with 642, Sleepy Eye 656, North Woods 675, West Central Area 691, Benson 707, Lanesboro 714 and Adrian/Ellsworth 731.
This marked the first year ever that Adrian or Ellsworth sent a team -- let alone two -- to the state golf tournament.

Taya Elias led the A/E girls with 190 total strokes. Teammates Gracia Elias had 192, Josi Altman 194 and Madeline Wagner 216. Other area individual qualifiers were Ellyson Bang of Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda (194) and Brielle Vis of Southwest Christian/Edgerton (199).
In the boys meet, Landon Runia (175), Brock Henning (178), Logan Nogosek (179) Landyn Loosbrock (199), Ethan Langseth (212) and Preston Vortherms (252) rounded out the Adrian/Ellsworth scores. Sawyer Drent of HL-O/F shot a 191 and Murray County Central’s Dawson Tutt finished with a 193.
