Bad weather forces sports postponements, cancellations

An onslaught of snow and drifting has forced the postponement and cancellation of most sporting events for the southwest Minnesota area.

The first round of the Section 3A girls hockey tournament has been moved from Thursday to Friday, Feb. 8. Worthington will play Mankato West at the All Seasons Arena in Mankato beginning at 5 p.m. Other first-round games have Windom Area at Luverne and Fairmont at Marshall.

The Trojans' scheduled boys hockey game in Worthington against Redwood Valley on Thursday was moved to Tuesday.

Worthington's scheduled wrestling meet at United South Central was called off on Thursday and will not be made up.

Thursday's scheduled gymnastics competition at the local armory against Jackson County Central was also canceled.
