MINNEAPOLIS — Before U.S. Bank Stadium hosts the Final Four next spring, the University of Minnesota and several other teams from the region will play in the first basketball games at the Vikings' venue this fall.

North Dakota State and South Dakota State will also be part of the first-ever men's basketball event at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. The "U.S. Bank Stadium Basketball Classic" will feature four games played, headlined by Minnesota playing Oklahoma State on Nov. 30.

The University of St. Thomas (Minn.) will take on Wisconsin-River Falls before the Gophers game, while SDSU will face Northern Iowa as part of the Saturday evening doubleheader, with NDSU-Drake University (Iowa).

"We couldn't be more excited to take part in the U.S. Bank Stadium Basketball Classic," Gophers coach Richard Pitino said in a statement. "The opportunity to play in the first basketball event at a state-of-the-art venue against a tremendous opponent in Oklahoma State was too good to pass up. I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of maroon and gold among the purple seats in November."

Tickets for one or both days will go on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 10.

The Final Four will be played at U.S. Bank Stadium on April 6-8.
