AUSTIN -- The Minnesota West Bluejay baseball team suffered four losses over the weekend at the Crossover Tournament Saturday and Sunday.

MW (3-11) dropped a pair to Anoka-Ramsey Saturday, before losing Vermillion Community College Sunday.

In the first game against A-R, the Bluejays had an early lead, but gave up a late run in the one-run defeat.

Ryan Swanson suffered the loss for the Bluejays, giving up two earned runs in 2 1/3 innings.

Nick Ahrens, Andrew DeBoer, Swanson and Lon Eichenberger all had a pair of hits for West, while Reid Strand drove in two runs.

In the second game of the day, MW gave up seven runs in the fifth inning in a loss to A-R.

The Bluejays had just one hit on the day, from Eichenberger in the seventh inning.

Trent Anderson suffered the loss, allowing five runs on 10 hits in four-plus innings of work.

In their first game on Sunday, a late-inning rally came up just short for the Bluejays against Vermillion.

Brian Harberts threw all seven innings, allowing four earned runs while scattering eight hits and striking out eight.

Adam Feller, Polz, Harberts, Ahrens and Anderson all had a hit for the Bluejays.

In the fourth and final game of the weekend, MW once again came up short in a close game.

Eichenberger took the loss in 3 2/3 innings of work, allowing five earned runs on eight hits.

Feller had a pair of hits and scored a pair of runs, while Harberts also had a pair of hits and drove in a pair of runs. Polz (solo homerun) and Swanson each had a hit for MW.

The Bluejays will be on the road again today at Rochester.
