ROSEMOUNT -- Five Bluejays had two or more hits in the second game of an MCCC Southern Division baseball doubleheader Tuesday, leading Minnesota West to its first league victory over Dakota County on the final day of the season.
Minnesota West, which lost the first game 2-0 to the Blue Knights, pounded out 12 hits and earned a 13-8 victory in the nightcap to finish the year with a 1-15 conference record (4-27 overall).
"We played some ball today, and it was nice to go out with a victory," Minnesota West head coach Jeremy Irlbeck said. "We hit the ball very well, and it was fun to be competitive in both games."
Trent Anderson hurled a complete game for the Bluejays in the opener, as he allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) while walking two and fanning a batter.
Chase Bierman led the Bluejay bats with three hits in three at-bats, including a double. Anderson and Ryan Swanson each had a hit, as well.

Corey Polz (three innings, three hits, three earned runs, one walk) and Andrew DeBoer (four innings, five hits, three earned runs, three strikeouts, two walks) shared the mound duties in the second game for the Bluejays, with DeBoer earning the victory.
Swanson, who scored three runs, went 3-for-4 with a double and a pair of solo home runs (one in the second and one in the fifth) to spark the Bluejays' offense.
Nick Ahrens (two runs), Lon Eichenberger (two RBIs, one run) and Adam Feller (two RBIs, one run) each went 2-for-4. Both Eichenberger and Feller had a double and a key two-out hit for the Bluejays.
Anderson was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and four RBIs, while Reid Strand was 1-for-2 with three runs and a pair of RBIs for the Bluejays.
