MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota West Bluejays baseball team continues to improve as opening day nears, beating Vermillion Community College in both games of its doubleheader Monday at the Metrodome.
Game 1
A tight affair throughout, the Bluejays' Brian Harberts (2 RBI) hit a walk-off single, scoring courtesy runner Darrell Kruger for a 2-1 victory.
Andrew DeBoer earned the complete-game victory on the hill for the Bluejays (3-7), allowing one earned run on five hits while walking four and striking out seven over eight innings.
"Of the five hits, DeBoer gave up a double and a triple, and for the most part did a good job of going after hitters," MW head coach Jeremy Irlbeck said.
