MINNEAPOLIS — While dominant inside player Aliyah Boston was getting most of the headlines for South Carolina entering the championship game of the Women’s Final Four, the smallest player on the court stole the show.
In a normal year with a full offseason, regular practices and a slew of nonconference games, Robbins would have had ample time to ready himself for the rigors of the Big Ten. He got none of that.
Sam Thoresen was working out last week when his best bud Max Meyer got drafted No. 3 overall by the Miami Marlins. They became fast friends on the Gophers baseball team, and while Meyer was the star of the pitching rotation, Thoresen was a key member of the supporting cast.
MINNEAPOLIS -- Max Meyer has never had a backup plan.
