FERGUS FALLS -- Minnesota West's opportunity to win itself a berth in the Region 13 volleyball tournament fell by the wayside Wednesday night with a 3-0 loss to host MState-Fergus Falls.
Fergus Falls defeated the Lady Jays 25-18, 25-16, 25-22.
"Everybody knew that we needed to win to go on. Unfortunately, we were just a little bit off this evening," said West head coach Marie Johnson.
Andrea Hinkeldey had seven kills, three blocks and 13 digs for the Jays on Wednesday. Katherin Ihnen had seven kills also, and Nicole Rowe and Hannah Neuman both had six. Micheine Morales led Minnesota West with 15 digs. Emma Woelber had 20 set assists to go with her 10 digs. Rowe had two blocks. Hinkeldey and Joa Ortiz each had one ace serve.
MState-Fergus Falls made some good attacks on the front row, said Johnson, and the Lady Jays weren't consistent enough to keep their season going.

"We were definitely looking forward to an exciting, competitive match. Unfortunately, we didn't play as clean as we have been," Johnson said.
Despite Wednesday's match, Johnson said she was proud of the Lady Jays this fall for what turned out to be one of their best seasons in several years.
