WORTHINGTON -- The completion of the new tennis facility in Worthington is right around the corner. The remaining pieces are painting the south section of tennis courts, installing the lighting and putting up the windscreens. Benches, bleachers, and storage facilities will also be added. In addition, future plans call for a concession stand and rest room.
Thanks to sponsorship from several groups in our community, this new facility is nearing completion. Sponsors will have their names displayed on a plaque on site, and their interest in -- and support of -- the project are greatly appreciated.
Now it's time to get out and play! The tennis courts have already been put to use by many of our high school tennis players and will get immense use as the spring season of boys' tennis will soon be under way.
However, the best way to show our sponsors our appreciation for these courts is for all community members to get out and use the facility. This summer I will conduct three "Family Fun Nights" to introduce people to Quick Start Tennis. This program is meant for all ages and all ability levels, and it is free.
I challenge everyone who reads this article to come to one of the "Family Fun Nights" and to give tennis a try. Come with your family, a friend or come by yourself. Start now -- the possibilities are endless. I look forward to seeing you at a "Family Fun Night" -- or, as they say in sports, we'll see you on the court!

Dates and times for "Family Fun Night" will be posted in an upcoming article in the Daily Globe.
