SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The competition was deep and tough Saturday at the Nike Heartland Preview cross country race at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls, S.D., on Saturday, featuring many top runners throughout the southeastern portion of South Dakota.

But a Minnesota school handled itself ably.

The Worthington Trojans recorded seven runners in the top 100 as Fanuel Wolday was 9th overall in a time of 16:50.31. Ofbeka Morke (25th, 17:21.67), Mikele Walu (31st, 17:34.20), Filmon Wolday (71st, 18:35.54), Mason Bobb (94th, 19:23.50), Isaac Kinser (95th, 19:23.81) and Austin Kinser (98th, 19:33.38) also finished among the top 100.

Karissa Bickett was the top finisher among the Worthington girls, coming in 105th with a time of 25:27.19. Other Trojans included Jenna Hoffman (106th, 25:30.78), Nicole Wede (108th, 25:38.42) and Marissa Thier (112th, 27:00.34).

Alea Hardie of Sioux Falls O'Gorman was the overall girls winner with a 17:42.53 clocking. Simeon Birnbaum of Rapid City Stevens won the boys race in 15:33.98.
