EDGERTON -- The Adrian Dragons' Adam Diekmann gave up one earned run on four hits while striking out 10 and walking one over seven innings to pick up a 6-1 complete-game victory over the Flying Dutchmen Thursday in a Red Rock Conference baseball tilt.

Matt Gades was 2-for-4 at the plate for the Dragons (5-0, 7-0), scoring twice and knocking in a run. Glen Kruger was 2-for-3 with an RBI double, while Tanner Loosbrock and Jordon Kontz (2 RBI) went 2-for-4 and 1-for-4, respectively.

Brady Vanderwaal suffered the loss for Edgerton (1-4), giving up one earned run on nine hits while striking out three and walking 1 over six innings.

Alex Elgersma was 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Flying Dutchmen. Teammate Levi Ossefoort had a seventh-inning RBI single.

Edgerton hosts Canby today, while Adrian hosts Lincoln County Saturday.

SLAYTON -- Joe Liepold's two-run single highlighted a four-run third inning for the Southwestern United Wildcats in their Red Rock Conference victory over Murray County Central.

James Anderson hurled six innings to earn the victory for the Wildcats, as he struck out four, walked two and allowed five hits before Ben Scheevel came on and pitched a perfect seventh frame for the save.

Scheevel was also 2-for-4 at the plate for SWU (3-0, 3-0), which plays at the Martin County West tournament in Welcome Saturday.

Paul Counter hurled a complete game for MCC (1-1, 2-2). He earned 11 strikeouts and also accounted for the Rebels' lone run with a solo home run in the sixth inning.

Justin Reinsma had a double for MCC, which plays Wabasso in Milroy today.

MOUNTAIN LAKE -- Brandon Fast, Barrett Herrig (four RBIs) and Steven Herrig each had two hits, and the Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin Wolverines defeated Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove in Red Rock Conference action.

Fast drove in two runs, while both Herrigs had a double for the Wolverines (1-1, 1-2).

Ryan Nessler earned the victory in three innings of work, as he struck out four batters. Barrett Herrig and Kyle Schroeder each hurled two innings in relief for ML/B-O.

Shane Schoborg was one of five pitchers to take the mound for RRC/W-WG, going the first three innings.

Eric Altermatt led the Falcons by going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles, while Justin Knakmuhs delivered a two-run single in the fifth inning.

ML/B-O visits Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial today, while RRC/W-WG travels to Windom today, as well.

Pipestone Area 4, Luverne 3

LUVERNE -- Despite giving up eight hits, Pipestone Area's Greg Quist earned the complete-game win, striking out three and walking three to help the Arrows improve to 2-0 on the year with the Southwest Conference victory.

Taylor Van Santen suffered the loss for the Cardinals (0-3), giving up one earned run in the seventh -- his third inning on the hill. Adam Ossefoort started for the Cardinals, giving up three earned runs on three hits, while striking out two and walking three in four innings of work.

Doug Mead was 1-for-3 with an RBI double for PA, while teammate Sam Bauer went 2-for-4 and had an RBI in the seventh.

Phil Paquette was 3-for-4 for the Cardinals with two RBI. Derek Van Santen had an RBI on a sacrifice fly.

Luverne hosts Tracy-Milroy-Balaton today and plays a doubleheader with Redwood Valley Saturday.
