Edgerton, MCC win play-in section volleyball matches

Edgerton Public defeated Red Rock Central 3-0 and Murray County Central swept Hills-Beaver Creek in play-in matches Monday for the Section 3A high school volleyball tournament.
Edgerton, the tournament's eighth seed, will play top-seeded Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Friday in the quarterfinals of the south section bracket. Murray County Central, the seventh seed, will play second-seeded Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Friday.
The Flying Dutchmen prevailed Monday over RRC on scores of 30-28, 25-18 and 25-20. Alyda Vande Griend had 14 kills and three blocks for the Dutch, and teammate Reese Vande Griend had nine kills and three blocks. Kya Voge had 15 set assists.
For RRC, Jada Rademaker and Sondra Rindfleisch had nine and six kills, respectively. Emily DeCock had 21 set assists.
For Murray County Central, Abby Loosbrock came up with six kills and Kate Slettum had five kills along with 14 set assists. Jaelen Barstad had six digs.
