Fairmont edges LQPV in Worthington girls golf invitational

By two strokes, Fairmont nipped Lac qui Parle Valley for the team championship Saturday in the Worthington Invitational girls high school golf event.

WORTHINGTON -- By two strokes, Fairmont nipped Lac qui Parle Valley for the team championship Saturday in the Worthington Invitational girls high school golf event.

LQPV, however, boasted the top two individual finishers. Sarah Halvorson, a junior, carded an 18-hole total of 81 strokes for medalist honors, and teammate Isabella Jacobs was second with an 88.

Third place went to Josi Altman of Adrian/Ellsworth, with a 93, Rounding out the top ten were Maggy Totzke of Fairmont (95), Anika Haugen of Fairmont (97), Regan Farmer of Jackson County Central and Madison Beckmann of Worthington (100), Solveig Sent of Fairmont (101), Morgan Gonnerman of Luverne (103), and Brooke Olson of LQPV and Brynn Gustafson of Fairmont (106).

Adrian/Ellsworth placed third in the team tournament, followed by Luverne, Worthington, Jackson County Central, Murray County Central and Southwest Christian/Edgerton.
