Baseball Fairmont 5, Worthington 4 FAIRMONT -- Trailing 4-0 through five innings Friday, the Fairmont High School baseball team scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to edge Worthington 5-4.

The Trojans played well, said head coach Brian Iverson. But the Cardinals couldn’t be held down and they dropped WHS to 1-6 on the year.

“They never hit one ball hard, but everything found a hole,” Iverson said.

Dalen Keltgen earned the mound win in relief.

Michael Iverson had two hits and an RBI for Worthington. Daniel Pavelko had a single and two RBIs. And Ben Rogers also drove in a run.

Eight of the nine Worthington batters in the lineup got at least one hit. The Trojans had runners on base in every inning.

Lovell allowed five hits, struck out 10, and walked one. Lovell went 2-for-3 in the batter's box with 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Kyle Espenson went 1-for-3 with an RBI for the Eagles.

Carson Wipf went 6 and one-third innings for the Arrows striking out five, walking one, and allowing nine hits. Wipf went 1-for-3 batting with an RBI, and Reid Homenn went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Matt Woldt started the game for Murray County Central, striking out three. Cameron Boerboom pitched 2-innings in relief, striking out four.

Austin Irlbeck went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jonah Hansen went 2-for-3 with an RBI, Cory Anderson went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Cayden Caron 1-for-3 for Lakeview, and Brennen Aguirre went 1-for-3.

Olson pitched all  seven innings, striking out 12, and walking zero. In the batters box Olson went 2-for-3 with a two-run homerun, and three RBIs.

Billi Connell went 4-for-4 with five RBIs, and a two run home run. Courtney Nath went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Luverne.

Gabby Buckridge pitched six innings with two strikeouts, and four walks. Hannah Nerem went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Halle Snyder went 1-for-3 with a two run home run for the Flying Dutchmen.

Halle Hough pitched a complete second game, striking out three, and walking two. Hough went 1-for-3 with a home run. Nath went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, and Sydne Johnson went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Cardinals.

Sierra Van Dyke pitched the entire game for E/SWC, striking out seven along the way. Liz Prins went 3-for-4, and Jazzy Prins went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Nicole Schroepfer struggled pitching for the Falcons allowing seven walks in three innings. Kennedi Janssen pitched four innings in relief striking out four.

Rindfleisch went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Hannah Nelson went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

T-M-B 301 040 0 -- 8 2 3RRC-WWG 250 00 0 -- 7 6 3 Track and field MLA/C Invite MOUNTAIN LAKE -- Aaron Johnson of Murray County Central won three events at the Progressive Chiropractic Invite, capturing the 110-meter hurdles (15.88), the 300-meter hurdles (44.09) and the triple jump (37-4).

St. James Area won the boys team competition with 106 points, as MCC had 72, Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey 66 and Westbrook-Walnut Grove 23. MCC won the girls competition with 72 points, just barely ahead of St. James Area with 71.83. MLA/C had 70.5 points and W-WG 49.66.

Eli Samuelson was a double-winner for MLA/C. He won the 100-meter dash (11.79) and the 200 meters (24.39). MCC’s Tyler Winter took the shot put at 38-5 and the discus at 107-6.

Kelsey DeSmith of Westbrook-Walnut Grove won both the 100-meter dash (14.28) and the 200 meters (29.83).
