TRACY -- Carter Benda ran the opening kickoff back 87 yards for a touchdown and added three more rushing scores as the unbeaten Murray County Central Rebels defeated Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 33-22 here Friday night.

Benda finished with more than 200 yards of total offense, including 172 yards rushing and 39 more in receptions. Junior quarterback Abe Paulzine passed for 49 yards.

The Rebels, ranked No. 2 among Class 1A teams, trailed 14-6 at halftime but took control by scoring four unanswered touchdowns in the second half.


Brock Smith returned a blocked punt 10 yards for a score, and Benda, a swift 165-pound junior halfback, added rushing touchdowns of 6, 13 and 16 yards as the Rebels built a 33-14 lead.

Murray County Central improved to 3-0, while Tracy-Milroy-Balaton fell to 2-1.

The Rebels came up with several T-M-B turnovers, including an interception by Smith and fumble recoveries by Christian Kuball, Dawson Blankenship and Chant Mitchell.

Adrian/Ellsworth 28, SE Public 6

SLEEPY EYE -- Dawson Krahling rushed for 122 yards and three touchdowns as the Adrian/Ellsworth Dragons defeated the Sleepy Eye Public Indians here Friday night.

Bryer Hieronimus threw a touchdown pass to Tavian Lange, and Krahling scored on runs of 8, 10 and 36 yards as the Dragons improved to 1-2 this season.


Sleepy Eye Public fell to 0-3.

Krahling carried the football 17 times. Isaac Bullerman rushed 12 times for 63 yards and Hieronimus ran six times for 28 yards to account for most of the Adrian/Ellsworth offense.

Jaren Winselman had 11 tackles, including a quarterback sack, to lead the Dragon defense. Brock Henning added four tackles, including a sack.

H-BC 45, HL-O/Fulda 6

HILLS -- Oliver Deelstra threw for 160 yards and three touchdowns as Hills-Beaver Creek defeated Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda here Friday night.

Deelstra also scored on a 38-yard run as the Patriots, ranked No. 6 among the state’s Nine-Man teams, improved to 3-0.


Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda fell to 0-3.

Andrew Harris scored on a 75-yard kickoff return and a 36-yard pass reception for H-BC. Cole Baker added a rushing touchdown and two receiving touchdowns.

The Patriots had 400 yards of total offense, including 240 yards rushing on 35 carries.

Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda scored on a 71-yard pass from Parker Murphy to Dominic White. The Coyotes also received 57 yards rushing a touchdown from Jaxson Tiesler.

Brayden Peil ran for 68 yards and made 12 tackles for HL-O/F. Trevor King added 12 tackles for the Coyotes.

BLUE EARTH -- Host Blue Earth Area dumped Jackson County Central by accumulating 274 yards rushing and 150 passing, holding JCC to 179 yards rushing and 93 via the pass.

Gabe Wolff and Will Freking scored touchdowns for JCC on five and three-yard carries, respectively.

Freking finished with 56 rushing yards on seven totes. Teammate Payton Handevidt caught four passes for 93 yards.
