Friday sports roundup: Aberdeen Central trips WHS girls basketball team, 44-37

In area Friday sports action, the Worthington Trojans girls basketball team fell 44-37 to Aberdeen Central at The Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D., Adrian/Ellsworth topped Ortonville 68-34 at the Cottonwood Northstar Holiday Tournament, and in boys basketball Southwest Minnesota Christian rolled over Springfield 79-62 and Murray County Central topped Renville County West 55-41.

Aberdeen Central 44, Worthington 37
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Taryn Hermanson scored 10 points to lead Aberdeen Central over Worthington in Sioux Falls.
Tarren Spartz led Worthington with 14 points while Madison Beckmann scored eight. Ellie Weg had six points with nine rebounds and three assists. The Trojans' Grace Barber added three assists.
Turnovers were a problem for both teams. Aberdeen committed 30 miscues and Worthington turned the ball over 32 times.

Adrian/Ellsworth 68, Ortonville 34
Sadie Krahling's 15 points helped the Dragons prevail. Katie Buntjer added 13 points, Claire Popkes 12, and Brylee Zebe 10. Buntjer had 15 rebounds and Zebe had four assists.

Southwest 79, Springfield 62
MARSHALL — Playing at Southwest Minnesota State University, Southwest Minnesota Christian achieved good balance en route to victory.

Trojans play well on offense and defense in win over Big South rivals

Dawson Rieck scored 29 points, Jarret Kuipers had 17, Trevin Prins 14, and Jacob Uilk 13. Kuipers pulled down eight rebounds and Aiden Schaap had seven rebounds and six assists.
Brayden Sturm scored 20 points for Springfield.

MARSHALL — In another SMSU tournament game, Murray County Central outscored Renville County Weset 37-21 in the second half for victory.
Bryce Hoekman scored 16 points and Christian Tentinger 14 points for the winners, and Tentinger had 12 rebounds.
