HILLS -- Taryn Rauk led all scorers with 22 points for Hills-Beaver Creek in a victory over Southwest Christian in a Friday night girls basketball game that featured two of the better area teams from last season.

Abby Knobloch had a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Kenadie Fick had 18 points, and Whitney Elbers had 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Jazlynn Prins scored a team-high 15 points for the Eagles. Ella Veldkamp scored 14 points, Maren Nerem scored 14 points, and Rylie Fey scored 13 points.

MLA/C 60, HL-O/F 38

FULDA -- Margo Stoesz and Brooke Naas combined for 38 points as Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey used a strong second half to record a road win.


Stoesz had 21 points and Naas had 17 for MLA-C, which led by just 24-20 at intermission.

For Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda, Chrissy Hermeling had 12 points while Kailee Haberman added 10.

W-WG 53, Edgerton 43

EDGERTON -- Kelsey DeSmith scored a game-high 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the visiting Chargers to a Red Rock Conference victory.

Camryn Bunting contributed 12 points along with 16 rebounds for W-WG, which improved to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Alli Vande Kieft added 11 points for the Chargers.

For Edgerton (0-1 RRC, 0-2 overall), Reese Wassink led the way with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Addison Fleischman had 10 points, Haley Wick grabbed a game-best 20 rebounds, and Gabrielle Buckridge chipped in with seven assists.

LAMBERTON -- The Falcons, down 45-44 with under a minute to play, scored the game’s final five points to come away with a home win over Adrian/Ellsworth.

Karli Arkell converted a three-point play to push the Falcons out in front, 47-45, and a pair of free throws with less than 10 seconds on the clock sealed the deal. Arkell led RRC offensively with 19 points, and Nicole Schroepfer added nine points.

Bailey Lonneman and Kallie Chapa had 12 points apiece for Adrian-Ellsworth.

SIBLEY, Iowa - Senior guard Brooke Zylstra poured in 31 points to lead the Boyden-Hull Comets to an overtime victory over the host Sibley-Ocheyedan Generals.

Senior forward Mallory Nilles scored 15 points for the Comets.

For the Generals, Madison Brouwer had 16 points and eight rebounds, and Abbie Bos scored 15. Bria Wasmund and Kellie Greenfield scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, for S-O.

Boys Basketball

Red Rock C. 56, MCC 43

SLAYTON -- Senior guard Sam Helmer drilled four 3-pointers and scored 21 points as Red Rock Central defeated Murray County Central in a high school boys basketball game.

Jonah Hansen added 11 points for the 1-1 Falcons, who outscored the Rebels 25-8 at the foul line.

For MCC (0-3), junior center Brayden Ahlers scored 14 points and senior guard Kyler Deacon added nine.
