SLEEPY EYE -- Jackson County Central found a good way to work off that Thanksgiving turkey, and it was Sleepy Eye St. Mary's who ended up getting stuffed.
JCC had doubled up on St. Mary's by halftime, and went on to win 62-38 Friday night in the first game of a weekend girls' basketball tournament in Sleepy Eye.
It was also the Huskies' first game of the season.
Brittney Kruse netted 19 points to lead JCC, while Leslie Handzus added 12.
Kaylee Benson scored nine points, dished out four assists and grabbed four steals.

Whitney Burmeister pulled down 13 rebounds for JCC, and Courtney Kruse added five more boards to go along with five steals.
The Huskies (1-0) will play today against Sleepy Eye Public.

Ellsworth 62, Lincoln HI 38
IVANHOE -- Darian Herman scored 22 points and pulled down seven rebounds while Brooke Kix contributed 19 points, nine rebounds and four assists Friday night, leading the Ellsworth Panthers to a season-opening, non-conference win over Lincoln HI.
Bridget Kramer added 11 points, five assists and four steals for the Panthers, while Abby Drenth chipped in with eight points, six rebounds, four steals and four assists.
Ellsworth will host Adrian on Tuesday night.
