AUSTIN -- Worthington's girls' soccer team wasn't able to complete a late comeback Monday, falling short by a score of 2-1.
Austin scored in the first 10 minutes on a loose ball in the area following a corner kick, and added another goal around 12 minutes into the second half on a shot that was lobbed over goalkeeper Andrea Amundson's head.
Nicole Ektnitphong then scored to narrow the deficit to one goal, but the Trojans weren't able to push through for a goal in the last 10 minutes.
"I think as a team we learned that just to do well sometimes is not good enough, it has to be all the time," head coach Smitty Ektnitphong said. "At this level, sometimes is not gonna cut it, every time you're on the field you have to maintain composure and work on fundamentals."
The Trojans outshot the Packers 11-3, but as Smitty Ektnitphong put it, "We left a lot of men on base."

The Trojans travel to play Mankato Loyola today,
"We know we can do a lot better, we do know that, it's just a matter of everybody putting it in and being able to work good together as a team, that's all we can hope for," Smitty Ektnitphong said.
