Girls tennis: Luverne improves to 5-1-1 overall

LUVERNE -- The Luverne High School girls tennis team swept all three doubles matches en route to a 5-2 win over River Valley on Monday.

Emilie Bartels and Riley Severtson defeated Megan Himmelman and Courtney Selner 6-1, 7-5 at No. 1 doubles. Roz Oye and Elise Jarchow won 6-1, 6-1 over River Valley's Liv Nelson and Megan Stevens at No. 2. And Mela Jarchow and Liz Kelm beat Brooklyn Molden and Kaydince Thoms 6-4, 5-7, 6-0 at No. 3 doubles.

River Valley took the No. 1 singles match as Hanna Himmelman defeated Sam Pierce 6-3, 6-3, and the No. 4 singles match as Kelsie Domeier topped the Cardinals' Ainslie Robinson 6-1, 7-5. Luverne's Carissa Cunningham beat Brianna Schmidt at No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-1. And at No. 3 singles, the Cards' Joci Oye won 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) over Lauren Klein.
