Murray County Central junior Abby Hamman, who placed seventh last year in the Minnesota state Class A high school girls golf tournament, is among the leaders after the first day of the 2019 tourney.
As a team, the Murray County Central girls rank sixth in the eight-team field after Tuesday, the first day of two days of competition. The Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda boys (A) and the Jackson County Central boys (AA) have further to go, taking up the rear in their respective meets.
The Class A tournament is at Pebble Creek in Becker. The Class AA tournament is at Sand Creek in Jordan. And the Class AAA meet is at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids.

Hamman has an 83 on the first day, tied with Makayla Snow of BOLD and Nicole Olson of North Woods in third place overall. Defending champion Rachel Halvorson of Lac qui Parle Valley is seven over par with a 79. Madison Scheevel of Fillmore Central has an 82.
BOLD leads the team Class A standings with a 345. Lac qui Parle Valley has 353, followed by Park Christian with 363, Badger-Greenbush-Middle River 373, North Woods 396, MCC 397, Fillmore Central 410 and Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 454.
Other MCC scores include Amber Boock with 103, Paige Behrends with 105, Vanessa Dahlgren 106, Ciera Tutt 108 and Kylie Frisk 110.
Madelyn Odell of Adrian has 93 strokes. Tess Van Maanen of Hills-Beaver Creek is at 101. Brittany Erickson of Westbrook-Walnut Grove and Gracia Elias of Adrian both have 104. Josi Altman of Adrian has 119 strokes.Boys
Springfield led the way in the Class A team standings with a 323-stroke total. Community Christian was next with 328, followed by Fertile-Beltrami with 337, Lac qui Parle Valley 345, Walker-Hackensack-Akely-Laporte 351, North Woods 353, Bethlehem Academy 372 and Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda 373.
In Class A, Holy Family Catholic leads with 310. Next is Detroit Lakes 317, Hill Murray and Cloquet both with 325, Blue Earth Area 329, Red Wing 331, St. Cloud Cathedral 336 and Section 3AA champ Jackson County Central 345.
Brett Reid, a sophomore from Community Christian, is the first-day Class A leader with a even-par 72. Kyle Hickey, a senior from Rochester Lourdes, is the first-day leader in Class AA with an even-par 72.
Among HL-O/F golfers, Payton Marquardt is at 89, Tyler Madison 92, Cory Renneke 94, Joe Fischer 98, and Ethan Koep and Isaiah Schmid both with 105.
Murray County Central’s Jack Pierson, the Section 3A individual titleist, has an 80. Andrew Quade of Westbrook-Walnut Grove is also at 80. Brock Henning of Adrian has 90, Cole Ahlers of MCC is at 99, and Trey Huisken of Southwest Christian/Edgerton has a 103.
In Class AA, JCC’s Jack Brinkman has 78 strokes, just six strokes off the leader. Other Huskies’ scores include Scott Flatebo with 81, Alec Kocak, Austin Haar and Tanner Haar all with 93, and Carter Olson with 105.
