The Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda high school volleyball team took part in the Burnsville Tournament on Saturday, a showcase tournament that featured some of the best Class A teams in Minnesota. Then on Monday, HL-O/F defeated host Windom Area 3-2.
Burnsville Tournament
BURNSVILLE — The Coyotes produced a 2-3 record. They lost to Russell-Tyler-Ruthton 19-25, 15-25, to Kenyon-Wanamingo 21-25, 14-25, and Cleveland 23-25, 22-25, and defeated Floodwood 25-10, 26-24, and Henning 25-22, 25-23.
"I think it taught us a lot about ourselves and it really helped us grow as a team," said head coach Trista Rhubee.
Maddie Schumacher finished the day with 24 kills and eight blocks. Marenna Bang had 22 kills and 57 set assists. Samantha Untiedt had 26 kills, 36 digs, 35 assists and 34-for-37 serving with five aces.

Marissa Becker had 23 kills and 38 digs. Anna Fest had 16 kills. Emma Rasche had 43 digs. And Lili Nielsen was 27-for-31 serving with six aces.
HL-O/F 3, Windom Area 2
WINDOM — Windom Area won the first game 25-19, lost the second 17-25 and won the third 25-22. HL-O/F took the last two, 25-14, 15-8.
Schumacher had eight kills and three blocks. Untiedt had 12 kills, 21 digs and 24 set assists and was 25-for-27 serving with four aces. Bang had eight kills 24 assists, and put 21 of 22 serves in play for two aces. Rasche had 21 digs, Becker 17 and Nielsen 16.
