JORDAN -- Host Jordan scored early in its girls high school soccer game with Worthington on Saturday, and they kept the Trojans at bay for a 3-1 victory.
In the second minute of the game, Jordan's Jenna Kluxdal scored on a high, hard shot taken from outside the box. Trojan goalkeeper Chantel Peralta got a hand on it, but it fell in just under the crossbar. Lexi Pederson scored before the half to make it 2-0.
Worthington seemed to play better after halftime, but in the 55th minute Madi Yule scored Jordan's third goal.
The Trojans' goal was scored on a corner kick with about four minutes remaining in the second half. Sofia Montoya initiated the kick, and it was cleared out of the box by a Jordan player. But Pam Lomeli was able to get control of it, and put it in goal on a beautiful shot that sunk into the back of the net.
Worthington put 12 shots on net in the second half.
