STARK -- Eric Heidebrink had a big two-run double in the seventh inning and the Worthington American Legion baseball team forged a come-from-behind nine-inning 6-3 victory over Faribault Wednesday night in Division I, Second District tournament action.
Worthington continues in the tournament today with a 1:30 p.m. game against the Mankato Nationals at Sleepy Eye. If Worthington wins that game, it will play again tonight at 8 p.m. A loss will send it to a 5 p.m. game.
Wednesday's game was scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. but it was rain-delayed and didn't commence until about 8:30. Faribault took a 3-2 lead but managed to tie the game at 3-3. A two-run double by Heidebrink off the centerfield fence in the seventh gave the locals a 5-3 advantage.
Easton Sauerbrei and Tucker Sorenson each had a pair of hits for Worthington.
Sauerbrei started on the mound for Worthington and was relieved later by Shawn Hurley and Sorenson. Tyler Linder finished up and was awarded a save.
