HERON LAKE - In a game scheduled for nine innings, Slayton went one more in a 7-4 victory over Heron Lake-Okabena in American Legion baseball Thursday.
Garret Johnson picked up the win for Slayton in the 10-inning game. He pitched the last two innings and struck out four batters.
Johnson entered the game in the ninth with a runner on third base and nobody out. But he stranded the runner on third to keep the game tied at 4-4.
Trey Cranston took the loss, pitching the final three innings.
Brady Kremer, Kellen Johnson, Kyle Schreier and Brandon Winter all had two hits for Slayton.
Angel Esqueda had two hits for Heron Lake-Okabena and teammate Isaac Fest had a triple. Marcelo Esqueda delivered an RBI single in the ninth and scored the tying run in that inning.
