Luverne and Fulda girls triumph, Worthington and SWC boys capture titles

PIPESTONE -- With 11 area teams competing in two classes in both boys and girls' events, the Luverne and Fulda girls were victorious, while the Worthington and Southwest Christian boys both ended on top Tuesday at the Arrow Relays.

The Luverne girls scored 118.25 points as a team, while PA finished second with 106.5 points and Worthington placed third with 104 points in the girls' class A.

In class B, Fulda scored 133 points, while Hills-Beaver Creek/Ellsworth/Edgerton edged SWC 110-109 for second place.

On the boys' side, Worthington scored 124.5 points to edge Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Yankton, while Murray County Central finished third with 94 points in class A.

SWC scored 144 points to win the class B boys' competition, while H-BC/E/E finished second, just three points ahead of Fulda, which finished third.

Girls class A

PA's Bree Woelber had a pair of first place finishes and a second place finish to lead the Arrows at their own meet Tuesday.

Woelber finished first in the long jump with a leap of 16-feet, six-and-a-half inches to place first, while Worthington's Cassie Landgaard finished third in the event with a jump of 15-2.5.

Woelber finished first in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.69 seconds, while Luverne's Katlyn Sawtelle finished second with a time of 16.77. Worthington's Sarah Cham finished third in 17.54.

The results were nearly similar in the 300 meter hurdles, but this time, Sawtelle was victorious over Woelber in a time of 46.72, compared to Woelber's time of 46.94. Cham once again finished third in 51.40.

Sam Kuechenmeister (MCC) finished first in the 100 meter dash in 13.93, while Krystle Sell (W-WG/RRC) finished second in 14.09 and Allyssa Stegenga (Luverne) finished third with a time of 14.11.

Kuechenmeister also turned in a third place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.30.

In the 400 meter dash, MCC's Colleen Everson finished first with a time of 58.76, while Jenna Kozlowski of PA finished third in 1:02.04.

In the 800 meters, Alyssa Schmidt (MCC) finished first with a time of 2:29.51, while PA's Amanda Schoonhoven finished third in 2:31.87.

In the 1600 meter run, Lexi Jo Heitkamp finished ahead of the group with a time of 5:26.77, while Kaitlin Gerber (Worthington) and Laura Christensen (MCC) finished second and third with times of 5:32.03 and 5:38.88, respectively.

Amanda Kannas finished second in the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:40.47.

The Arrows relay teams were victorious in the 4x100 and the 4x200, while Luverne finished first in the 4x400 and the 4x800 meter relay.

Rachel Malmgren's jump of 4-10 was good enough for second in the high jump, while Everson finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 34-5. Cham finished third in the triple jump (34-1).

Worthington's Jenna Donkersloot finished first in the shot put with a toss of 38-7, while Callie Sawtelle (Luverne) finished second with a toss of 36-0.5.

Sawtelle and Natalie Willers gave Luverne the top two finishes in the discus throw, as Sawtelle finished with a toss of 126, while Willers tossed 103-03.

Girls Class B

In class B, Fulda's Amy Paulzine turned in a pair of first place finishes to lead the Raiders to victory.

Paulzine won the shot put with a toss of 34-7, and the discus throw with a distance of 127-6.

SWU's Katey Granstra finished second in both events.

In the 100 meter dash, SWC's Lacy Bobb finished third with a time of 14.59, while Erica Thier gave Adrian a victory in the 200 meter dash (29.05).

In the 400 meter dash, SWC's Brianna Spronk won in a time of 1:04.57, while Megan Timmer (H-BC/E/E) finished second in 1:06.28.

Adrian's Morgan Lynn also turned in a pair of first place finishes in the 800 meter run (2:28.60) and the 1600 meter run (5:23.27).

Fulda's Tiffany Gehl finished second in both events.

Fulda's Erica Drealan won the 3200 meter run, with Whitney Wilgenburg (H-BC/E/E) finishing second.

Hailee Heitkamp (Adrian) finished first in the 100 meter hurdles (18.43) and second in the 300 meter hurdles (51.18).

Meagan Steuven (H-BC/E/E) finished second in the 100 meter hurdles, while Sara Pearson (Fulda) finished third.

Michelle Goedtke finished third in the 300 meter hurdles for Fulda.

SWC finished first in the 4x100 meter relay, second in the 4x200, first in the 4x400 and second in the 4x800 meter relay to lead area teams.

Mari Holinka finished second for Fulda in the high jump with a height of 4-6, while Ashley Bucher (H-BC/E/E) finished first in the long jump with a leap of 15-2.5. Stormy Canfield (Fulda) finished second with a jump of 14-0.5.

H-BC/E/E's Santana Wysong won the triple jump with a distance of 31-4.

Boys Class A

Worthington's 4x200 relay team of Adou Omot, Tom Mammen, John Mead and Travis Pedersen set a school record with a time of 1:33.32 to lead the Trojans to a team victory Tuesday.

Pederson also turned in a pair of individual first place finishes in the 200 meter dash (23.73) and the 400 meter dash (51.06), while Omot won the 800 (2:07.41) and Mammen won the 100 meter dash (11.86) and the long jump (19-8.5).

Pedersen also finished second in the triple jump (40-06), behind T-M-B's Drew Nelson (41) and ahead of MCC's Cole Hegstad (39-5).

Jun Kondo (T-M-B) edged Hegstad in the 100 meter dash by .02 to finish second.

In the 200, Colin Cooper (PA) finished third with a time of 24.81, while Nelson finished second in the 400 with a time of 51.25 and W-WG/RRC's Will Spaeth finished third in 55.84.

In the 1600 meter run, Forrest Asp finished first with a time of 5:01.19, while Worthington's Aaron Grafing finished second and MCC's Matt Christiansen finished third.

Asp also finished ahead of the pack in the 3200 meter run, with a time of 11:06.63, nearly seven seconds better than MCC's Mitchell Hart.

T-M-B's Dalton Kirk (16.58) finished first in the 110 meter hurdles, while MCC's Tyler Wasberg finished second and Gathin Velduizen placed third.

Kirk proved his prowess on the hurdles with another victory in the 300 meter hurdles, as MCC's Matt Van Meveren finished second and PA's Brian Kooiker finished third.

In the high jump, Wasberg and T-M-B's Steve Paradis each cleared 5-10.

Paradis finished second in the long jump, while Mead placed third.

Luverne's Sam Dooyema won the shot put (47-0.25), while Derek Sumption (PA) won the discus (145-08).

T-M-B's 4x100 meter relay finished first, the 4x200 team placed second, while the 4x400 meter team edged Worthington for first place honors.

Boys Class B

Brooks Knutson and Tyler Mouw each turned in a pair of first place finishes to lead SWC to a boys' class B victory Tuesday.

Knutson finished first in the 110 meter hurdles (18.82) and the 300 meter hurdles (45.56).

Mouw won the shot put (46-02) and the discus (119-01) for the Eagles.

Fulda's Tony Clausen and SWU's Jake Smith each finished second and third in the shot and discus throw.

SWC's Jordan Spronk won the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.07, while teammate Nicholas Pfeifle finished first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.49.

Fulda's David Crowley finished third in the 200 meters with a time of 25.35.

Derik Everett (Adrian) edged Crowley in the 400 meter dash, while fellow Dragon Nate Reyne defeated SWC's Ethan Spronk in the 800 meter run.

Spronk was able to capture a first place finish in the 1600 meter run, edging Adrian's Chris Reisdorfer by four seconds.

Jordan Pater of Adrian finished the 3200 meter run in a time of 10:44.69 to finish ahead of SWC's Corey Vis.

Kody Landin finished second in the 110 meter hurdles for H-BC/E/E, while Fulda's Cole Sinnamon finished second in the 300 meter hurdles.

With a jump of 6-0, Fulda's Chris Dardis captured first, while Terence Reid (H-BC/E/E) finished second in the high jump but captured a first place in the long jump (19-11.75).

Raider Devin Kuehne edged Pfeifle and SWC's Tyler Van Schepen for a victory in the triple jump.

SWC relay teams took victories in the 4x100 and the 4x200, while Adrian captured the 4x400 and H-BC/E/E took home first in the 4x800 meter relay.
